Seeing this is two hours makes me even more excited for a premire. This makes me think TWO are going home as well. :) Just like they did in Gabon. I'm very excited about this. I have a feeling it's not going to disappoint!
What are the odds that Coach, Russell and Rupert get 99% of the airtime? :lol
This makes me think TWO are going home as well. :)
No boot spoilers, but clarifying this:
Only one person is supposed to be leaving. Probably an extra hour of Russell bragging and Rupert roaring :(

I don't know who to be more worried about, Jerri or Coach
How fortuitous the rooster and chickens strolled into the Heroes' camp. :lol

How fortuitous the rooster and chickens strolled into the Heroes' camp. :lol
I was thinking the same thing. They were the easiest chickens ever caught on Survivor. The group of them basically sat there waiting to be bagged.

I thought it was an excellent mix of seeing many of the players tonight :up Great opener and I am SO happy Sugar is gone - how annoying can one person be?

Sandra I welcome you to the villains tribe with open arms! Loved it! :lol
Rob is looking scary in the previews for next week.

Sandra was pretty freaking funny tonight! She is devious and I think she's got game, but then again, I always thought she did.
What is happening to Rob???

If you missed the previews, it looks like he passed out in the jungle and medical staff has to attend to him. Weird since he looked to be just fine physically through this episode. I wonder what's up with it.
Speaking of Rob, he really knows how to lead a team. I feel like he is playing himself into a very good position so far. It will be tough to keep the target off his back eventually, but he is probably buying himself a few rounds to try and solidify something.
Parv acted like she knew more about Russell than I would've thought. I wonder if they got to see some of the early episodes.
As for Russell, I'm glad to not hear him calling everyone here an idiot. He does realize that there are some smart and savvy players in the group. I wonder when he'll start idol hunting.
Heroes are a bit of a yawn for me. Although I've always liked Colby, it was hilarious to see Coach best him in the challenge. Unbelievable!
Other than that, I enjoyed Tom and JT. I really think JT has a shot in this game. He is just a sharp kid and knows how to play it.
I feel like on the Heroes tribe they have to break up Amanda and Cirie immediately. It was way interesting to hear the villains talk about those two being together and hear Parvati immediately chime in that they weren't together. If those three hit the merge, I wouldn't be surprised to see them team up again.

Not to mention James. If all four of them make the merge, they could easily pick up a few floaters that slipped through the cracks like a Courtny, Candace, Danielle, and completly take over the season if these people aren't carefull.

I sort of doubt it, only because this season began filming about 10 days after Samoa had wrapped. I don't think there was any real time to cut any of the episodes. Parvati, in all her skankiness, is actually not too dumb when it comes to reading people - I think that's why she did so well last time. She probably also realized that there was probably a really good reason Russell got asked, since James and Amanda were from China - both very notable and Rupert from Pearl Islands got asked to do All-Stars...I'm sure after her first outing in Cook Islands, she actually watched a lot more and learned a lot more about the show/game.
Also I'm betting Russell has probably told all of them by the 3rd day he made the finals - he can't help but brag :lol
Sandra was pretty freaking funny tonight! She is devious and I think she's got game, but then again, I always thought she did.
I love Sassy Sandra! I'm glad she was able to prove to everybody else that she is a Villain. She has one of my favorite Survivor quotes of all time "I can get loud too." What is interesting is that she doesn't have that winners stigma that a lot of the other winners have against them.
Dennis
02-12-2010, 01:22 AM
It's a good point AIW. Although, I noticed that when they mentioned winners tonight, only one previous winner didn't get mentioned and that was Parvati. Rob pointed out that Sandra had won, and of course Tom and JT were quick to point out that they won. Also, Russell surely believes that he won! :lol
Oh, also, Randy is such a douche. :lol He has no idea how to act around people. His comments about nobody being voted off for not making fire and nobody being safe just for making it, so lets all do nothing... :rofl Then, once Rob made the fire he threw himself all over him declaring him the leader and acting like he spoke for the whole tribe when he did so. What a moron.

I really liked the show. And I don't know if I'm just feeling extra charitable, but I kind of liked everyone. Even Boston Rob, which is weird.
I actually love poor Sugar. She's so emotionally fragile, its cute. Not really cut out for the game though, the poor thing.
Looks like Rob and Russell are the big strategists on the Villains, which is no surprise. But, it appears Rob dies next week, so I guess Russell can run the show.
JT,Tom and Cirie seem to be the masterminds on the heroes, which is why I was kind of hoping they would vote off Cirie - so Tom can get rid of his principal rival :lol
I loved Sandra tonight too, but I've always been a bit of a fan.
Oh, and Sugar flipping double birds while topless was awesome! I take back what I said before. She was made for this game!

Is it only me that thought Parvati went a bit too far when she appeared to deliberately yank Steph's shoulder out of place ? Its one thing to get injured in a challenge by accident but that looked intentional. Other than that , I really liked seeing the old players again ..well except for Jerry and Tyson. I dont get Rupert the hero either.
He looked like a real poor sport when he failed at making fire and then went " big deal " when the others succeeded. I am not crazy about him this time round.
Dennis
02-12-2010, 01:50 AM
Well, I'm not sure that Parvati tried to dislocate her shoulder. There was lots of arm grabbing in that challenge. I would give her the benefit this time since I don't think she is known as being a dirty player. That was an extremely physical challenge of course. Injuries had to be expected.

I"m actually liking everyone for right now, well I take that back, I already can't stand Rupert. Please get him off my screen soon.
I can't wait to see how this season unfolds. It should be very interesting.
Eww at the Jerri Coach romance.
Can't wait to see the power alliances form and :lol at Russell doing the same thing he did last season.

Courtney shouted " break her shoulder " and the next thing I see is what looked like Parvati twisting it behind her back . Maybe it was the editing that made it look like that. I know injuries are to be expected and it always amazes me that there arent more of them. You are probably right because I know Jeff threw someone out of a challenge for playing dirty last season...but from where I was sitting it looked questionable.

I think the break her shoulder comment was edited to fit that part of the wrestling match. They are playing up the villain thing. However, I totally agree with you that it is amazing there aren't more injuries. These people aren't athletes!
I have seen too much of Steph myself, but I would prefer they just vote her butt out. :lol

Not sure if I'm glad Sugar was the first to go, but I kind of thought she would be. This game is a bit much for her I think. However I LOVED her giving those girls the double finger with her boobies hanging out! And I really HATE Pavarti(sp?) and that skinny chick with the blond hair. I don't really like Stephanie but if you pull someone's arm that far back something bad is going to happen. See the b**ch would come out and I'd be putting an elbow in someone's face. James is so freaking hot. It's just unreal and distracting. lol I am enjoying see Tom, Rupert (of course), James, JT and Ciere (I never spell her name correctly). For the villains. Still don't like them but it will be interesting to see who if anyone sticks with an alliance. I do wonder what does it say about a group of people if I find myself liking Boston Rob? *shudder* Scary. And the Heroes really need to stop underestimating the Villains. Love them or hate them, they are excellent players.

How cool is Tribal Council 40 feet in the air?
I was hoping that they would have actual tribe names as well as the Hero and Villian title. What island are they on anyways? I miss the fun tribe names like Foa Foa, Galu etc. I like the idea of heroes and villians, I just think all the fans are going to get an earful of those words.

These brawling/wrestling challenges are so weird. The first time they had one I was pretty appalled, but I've gotten quite used to them by now. Do they give them any dos and don'ts whatsoever? I was fairly horrified when Russell was jamming his fist in Tom's throat.

Yeah, I agree with you KF. It seemed really violent, even compared to other seasons. Two injuries on day 1 isn't a great start.
I hope Rob doesn't get taken out of the game. I think he is a good leader for the Villians and without Rob I think the Villians will fall apart.

There must be some pretty loose rules because all Probst said was "Play fair!" over and over again.

It's pretty funny that he says the heroes are underestimating the villains, then uses Boston Rob and Russell as the examples, even though they were both famous for weakening their tribes, which were two of the statistically worst tribes ever :lol
Randy going early has to be a done deal - another Yau-Man who comes back, gets no airtime and bounced too soon.

02-12-2010, 05:30 PM
I like so many of the players this season, I can't pick a favorite tribe.
On the villains tribe, I like how Parvati was smart enough to know Russell was forming alliances left and right, but at the same time know it's better to have the devil on her side. I was surprised by how interesting and villainy Sandra was. I like Courtney's bad ass attitude, Rob's charisma, Russell's sneaky game play. I laughed at Coach and Jerri's starting romance, though I can't say I like either of them. Randy is just a grumpy old man, and I'm still not sure what Danielle is doing on the villains tribe, or why she's even there at all actually?
On the heroes' side I'm still a huge Stephenie fan. Tom is one of my favorite winners. Lots of the others are cool too, James, Amanda, JT. I know Cirie was a great player in Micronesia, but for some reason I've never been a fan. And though I used to love Rupert in his original season, he was quite meh in All-Stars and now he just irritates the ** out of me. Sugar was funny, especially her flipping the bird topless, but I have to agree that she was way out of her league and needed to be booted out first.
You know what, from doing this little list I can see that I like the villains tribe better than the heroes (no surprise there I guess! :lol)
What seems to happen to Boston Robn in the previews looks scary. :eek Though maybe it turns out to be not much of anything, since Jeff is not hyping it up at all (unlike what he did for Russell's last season).
I'm still not sure what Danielle is doing on the villains tribe, or why she's even there at all actually? On the TV Guide Special, Probst said it was because Corinne couldn't get time off her job :( Natalie was the alternate, and would have been better, but I think they didn't want to have yet another Micronesia castmember on the show.
kungfuhippie
02-12-2010, 05:41 PM
Although I've gone on record as saying Danielle is a nobody who has no business being there again, I'll give her another chance. What I don't like, though, is this group being touted as the 10 GREATEST heroes and the 10 GREATEST villains. They're a reasonably representative group, but lots of good people who should probably be there aren't.

I really enjoyed the premiere, and like others, was pleasantly surprised with how many of the cast members I enjoyed.
On my up list:
VILLIANS
Rob M! :up I forgot how much fun he is.
Russel (sans the bragging) :up
Parvati: she's been around the block, and knows what she's doing
Sandra: hilarious! Her and her Boston Bob's
HEROES
Tom: he ran the chicken catch. He's just cool anyhow.
JT: "he sure is country." :love
Amanda: she's always been a good player, I'm glad she knows her fatal flaw
Cirie: by every account, she should have been sent home FIRST. She's not that much stronger than Sugar and is a million times the threat.
On my shrug list:
VILLIANS
Tyson: But this will alternate between the list above or below I'm sure.
HEROES
Stephanie: I've always hated Steph, so this is a big move up for her. :lol I was kind of impressed with her toughness but hated her comments about how the villians deliberately pulled her arm out, you know, cause they're villians. Stupid.
Colby: bleh. He'd be on my down list if it wasn't for the scenes with him and Sugar. :p
James: He should be on my up list, but I still can't get over the fact he got sucked in by Pavarti and didn't use his idols.
On my Down list:
VILLIANS
Courtney: Who cares? Go home.
Randy: :uhh
Danielle: Who cares? Go home.
HEROES
Candace: though not really annoying. Just a nothin.
Rupert: .
On my Puke list:
Coach. Jerri. So set up for the show to gain attention. :puke
Oh, and Tyson's little undies. Though they made me :rofl too.
I think I'm going to love this season! :UP

What I loved about this episode/season is that they introduced us to pretty much all of the characters. Some I don't know caused I missed a few seasons but I feel like I know them all now. And have even started knowing the ones I did see in a new light (i.e. Boston Rob, James & JT).
Huge difference from Samoa in which we didn't even hear some of the cast speak until 2 episodes into the merge. This is going to be an exciting season!
Good riddance Sugar. I liked her in Gabon but she was just boring and not into it here. I dunno why she was asked back from Gabon. I would've preferred crystal or kenny or even Susie or Bob...

Great first episode! Loved some of the characters :D I only watched Samoa, so I didn't know any of them, but some early favorites are definitely Coach, Rob, Sandra, and JT (omg I love his smile :blush). I don't think I'm gonna be a big fan of Stephenie, Tom, and Danielle - but who knows....
Tyson was hilarious :lol Not sure if I will like him, but this quote was pretty funny...
"Colby getting owned by Coach? Oh my Gosh, dude. I can only imagine what Colby is thinking. He's gotta be like 'I may as well just become a woman, because there is no point in trying to maintain my masculinity now."

Hi guys, first post :hiWhat a great opener, I love this show :biggrin They had a show like Survivor on here in Germany about 10 or so years ago, but only for 2 seasons I believe. To this day I cannot understand why they cancelled it, bc it wasn`t bad at all (except we didn`t have Jeff :love ) Maybe it wasn`t the right time back then, bc we do have all kinds of reality shows on now, most of them trash :(
I still haven`t seen all seasons yet, so I don`t know the (in)famous Boston Rob yet, so I`m excited to see him, and don`t know Candice, but she seems nice, til now anyways.
So far I like Stephenie, JT, James, Tom, Colby and Cirie, absolutely hate Tyson, he`s waaaay to cocky and mean for my taste, although funny at times, and Randy, he`s just..........Randy :banghead, not too crazy about Sandra and Courtney either. Coach doesn`t bother me too much, he`s just full of himself, but not mean. I really wonder how Russell`s gonna play this time around, I don`t think he`d get far with this group playing the same game. And I sincerely hope he`s not hoging all the airtime like in Samoa, although I liked how he played the game, except for the constant bragging how great he is :rolleyes Kudos to Sugar for how she handled the bra incident :up
Well, let the games begin............:biggrin
Tyson is generally pretty funny and always very mean with his comments.
I don't think I've ever found him that funny to be honest :uhh I'm really shocked he made it over Fairplay, Rob C, Lex, Sean R, Brian H, Chris D, Judd, Yul, Dreamz, Todd, John Robert, Kenny, ect... :lol

I don't like Tyson at all but his swim trunks were pretty funny. However personally I wouldn't want to wrestle a man wearing skin tight leopard print. But that's just me. lol I have to disagree here in terms of the arm pulling incident. I do believe it was at least partially on purpose and being a villain doesn't or at least shouldn't make it ok to actually on purpose injure someone. So that puts Parvarti (I can never spell her name) and Courtney squarely on my Poop list.
Dennis
02-15-2010, 12:41 PM
So what do you do then? Do you try to avoid touching somebody's shoulder? That would make it tougher on you and give that person an advantage. If you are playing a rough physical game like that, you have to expect crap like that. Last season Mike got taken out in a physical contest. He was older and slower than the rest of the players. Should they have gone easier on him?
angelfan
02-15-2010, 12:53 PM
No, but you also know when you pull a shoulder that far back you are going to hurt someone. I'm not saying accidents don't happen especially when it is so physical but it was ridiculous how far back she pulled Stephanie's shoulder. If you do something like that you know what you are doing. That's all I'm saying.
Dennis
02-15-2010, 01:01 PM
Right, but couldn't Steph just give up if the pressure was too great? I mean, if the rules are clear and Parv didn't break them, what more can we expect?

I think she went to far. But that is just my opinion. And on a personal note, I'd be after Pavarti after that so it's not like I'm against violence. :)
Dennis
02-15-2010, 01:09 PM
Yeah, I know what you're saying. I just think that if they have the challenge and those specific rules and you play within them, then you can't really be faulted. As for payback though, I'm right there with ya! :up

Have any of you read the episode commentary by Dalton Ross? He was there for the filming of that episode and shared some behind the scene insights. Some of them were related to the reward challenge. It was not Parvati pulling Stephenie's shoulder back that dislocated it, it was something completely different. I won't say more, in case it is considered a spoiler, but you can read more about it here:
http://www.tvfunspot.com/forums/showpost.php?p=221066&postcount=17
Russell snapping back Tom's leg was more brutal that whatever Parvati did to Steph, but for challenges like that, what Jeff says goes, unfortunately.

Ok so I now owe Pavarti an apology. Sorry. I still don't like you honey but I can't accuse you of deliberately dislocating Stephanie's shoulder. It did look awful in that scene in my defense but I was wrong. See I can admit when I'm wrong. It pains me but I can do it. *sigh*

Sugar, although not as irritating, is not cut out for this. She was literally looking for someone to follow... in an all stars game :down No loss with her leaving. I heard Sugar and JT had a thing before the show, was surprised JT was one of the first to suggest Sugar... cold, but LOVE him! He's my Rob on the Heroes side. Him and Cirie are the only Heroes I'm rooting for.
I dislike Russel now, he will be after Rob first chance he gets and that's reason enough for me.
Sandra, Tyson and Courtney.. fun to watch! Sandra is bad ass.
Rupert, still can't stand him!
My bf, who has only watched these last 2 seasons, is for Tom and Steph. SO different, I'm rooting for the Villains to DOMINATE!

Before the show he said he was gonna ride Rob's coattail if I remember correctly :p

I hope he does that. The 2 going far would be interesting. Rob leaving before merge would be a waste.
