This season probably the most talented cast yet. They sure gave the Olympian a good edit, I think she will be in the show for a long time.
Martin saying he had to go to the bathroom, my gosh, I see we have a fool of the show! He reminds me of the Brent from last season; standing on a rock while the Tent was being built. My god, all he is to me is an idiot on a rock.
Finally, I feel that Frank is this season's loud, cocky, and annoying candidate who thinks he is helping a task, but just makes it worst. All he did was raise his voice and make noise.
All in all, good premeire thus far, but my favorite part hands down was the fake conversation with Trump while he drove his convertible! :rofl
-----
Oh how I love seeing 18 business people in suits at a car wash. Just the irony of it all is funny. I think Trump could make them dance like monkeys, and they'd do it for him.
Always "Project Manager Until they Lose" Twists:
-I really don't like this twist; I'd rather see a diverse cast of leaders. I think the twist would be better if it were "If the team wins, the PM has a choice to be PM again or not, and they can accept or deny the offer."
-----
Good Challenge, I think Frank's team is going to lose, and as should be; they didn't even have signs for a good part of the challenge! Silly, stupid, and sad.
I agree with James on his last statement, that Martin was self-concious on how much he sold; counting it by himself, rather than being satisfied with his team is a definite indicator. This guy's just all over the place, and didn't appear to be a very good Salesman.

As expected, Heidi's team won! This is a positive outcome IMO. But they only won by $100 which isn't much. There's Reality TV Editing for you, I thought it would be a landslide.
The prize of the team getting to dine with Trump and Wolfgang Puck is amazing. What a great Reward for the first task; one year (if I remember correctly) their prize was to plant a tree. :lol
Project Manager Acts as a Boardroom Judge Twist:
-I also love this twist; it's a neat idea, plus it will put an interesting spin in the boardroom. Will they speak up? Won't they? Will people hate them for it?
-I sure hope someone tries to use this position for subtle strategy.
Losing Team Must Live Outside Twist:
-Hahahahhaha, this is SO funny. I LOVE this twist; they have to do EVERYTHING outside; eat, sleep, dine, bathe, etc. Too Funny!
-The only time they can go inside is for the boardroom! :lol Great Twist Trump!
At this point, Frank's team seems to be all over the place, and Heidi's team definitly seems to be a strong team overall.
I also like how the Winning Team gets the pool outside, and they used it to listen Frank and Martin talk. Is Martin so dense that he doesn't realize he's a joke?
-----
Ok, the group discussion of Frank's team; the one downfall of losing in this season, is there are no bedrooms to run off to, with the outside penalty, everyone is always together and has nothing to do but talk about their loss.
And I have to say, Martin slightly redeemed himself in my eyes. He did a great job at turning the team against the PM, Frank, and really took himself out of the spotlight; I don't think he'll be going home this week.
At this point, my guess is that Frank is definitely going home. Because think about it; the loss was maybe $100, if they had a set price, they would have had more time to sell, and an established base to work off of, where as yes if someone sold 10 more car washes, that's would help but ANY salesperson is at fault, not just Martin.

The commercials are killing me.
So far so good. Heidi is definitely the front runner. Frank and Martin seem to be the targets.
I'm surprised the teams have not picked a name yet.

:eek
Poor move on Heidi's part possibly. Thinking she will keep the weakest link on the other team. Interesting.
ETA: It doesn't appear she is actually following thru with what she said. Whew.

Poor move on Heidi's part possibly. Thinking she will keep the weakest link on the other team. Interesting.
I was just coming into the thread to complement the strategy. If I were on the Apprentice I would 100% want the Winning PM to try to gain an advantage, and to do so, I think that they should DEFINITELY try to eliminate the stronger players.
So as such, I think it's definitely a good move. But I don't think there will be much of a chance for the Winning PM to decide who goes home, as usually it seems to clarify throughout the boardroom by itself, but if the PM has the chance to sabotage, I think they should jump on it.
At this point, I think Frank is going to choose himself and the man sitting beside him. I also think Trump will question the decision which could lead to his downfall. All in all, my guess is Frank is being eliminated. (Great job to Martin on flipping the team! Definitely props!)

Well, Martin is gone. He had good strategy in the middle of the episode, but his arrival and exit both just make him out as a fool in my eyes. In the end, I agree with Ivanka, Martin could not run a Trump Company.
I just wish Trump would have fired them both, now that would have been the best outcome. Heidi was quiet in the second section of the Board Room, but I guess it would be intimidating as she too is a candidate.
Overall, good Premeire and I will stay tuned for the next episode! :woo

I'm pissed. Both should have gone home. I can't stand Frank's voice and his loose cannon personality. He's so loud and annoying. GRRRR. I just wish he joined Martin on the Taxi Ride of Shame. However, I just wish Martin stuck up for himself better. He eliminated himself.

Interesting once again.
I too think they both should have been fired. Surprised Trump didn't do that. Frank is a loose cannon...oh my word.
I wasn't thinking of Heidi's strategy. I should clarify myself. I was speaking of how Trump might feel about it if he was to question her wanting the weakest link gone. Whoopsie... for assuming that might come up. :giggle
I do agree from Heidi's standpoint it was possibly a good strategy. I just didn't think being in the board room thinking I'm keeping the weakest link was too smart. But it is an interesting strategy.

I agree with both of these statements.
I think Trump should have fired them both because TWO CANDIDATES actually suggested that! The editors totally set it up for a double elimination too.
Additionally, I think Martin played a GREAT Pre-Boardroom game, as I said earlier, he suprised me with his strategy, but he BOMBED in the Board Room. If only he had a better go, maybe it would be Frank going home.
On a totally seperate note, was anyone else bugged when Trump said 'You're Fired' to Martin, Frank got all happy and made a big victory smile. That annoyed me SO MUCH you can't even believe. He's so snide, and blatent, and I want him gone.

YES! Totally inapropriate. Simply shows his immaturity and the fact that he won't make it to the end. I think that Frank is more dramatic and Trump knows drama = ratings. :lol

:lol He actually repeated Trumps' words aloud. What a moron.
I think Martin made a fatal error by arguing price point. Price point was not the reason they lost. It was the dam flyers. If he had continually pointed out that they did not have decent signage until 2/3rds of the way into the task, and that Frank was responsible for that decision, he may haved saved his ass. In fact, I believe that their low pricepoint, upsale idea was fantastic. If they had had proper signage early... they would have won, and probably by a good margin.
Doofuses. hehe
Both should have gone home. They would have made a nice taxi pair too...

Even high school kids doing a car wash know you need signs, not handouts. Frank is loud, but he didnt have a cool head and didnt start them off on the right foot. And his joy at seeing Martin voted out was unforgivable. I imagine he will hang around for quite some time to annoy us though.

1. :lol He actually repeated Trumps' words aloud. What a moron.
2. It was the dam flyers. If he had continually pointed out that they did not have decent signage until 2/3rds of the way into the task, and that Frank was responsible for that decision, he may haved saved his ass.
3. Both should have gone home. They would have made a nice taxi pair too...
I agree with all three of those statements.
1. Frank showed how he is a rude, cocky, and immature from his expression while he re-pointed out and rubbed in Martin's face that he had been fired (with that snide look on his face I might add)
2. Again, I agree, how in the world did Frank think that a pencil and a memo pad was going to attract cars. Better yet, let's just write the drivers a post it note. It was even funnier when they were just yelling at the cars, now that's just hilarious. :rofl
3. Yes once again toque, I agree. A double firing would have been perfect and it was so set up. But, I guess we will have to live with Frank, my newest hate on reality television.
1. Even high school kids doing a car wash know you need signs, not handouts.
2. Frank is loud
3. I imagine he will hang around for quite some time to annoy us though.
:yeahthat
Yawn, I thought the premiere was terrible. Didn't like the candidates nor the task. This show is losing me fast.

Agreed. Martin was the only interesting one :( Frank's an even more annoying and less funny version of Brian.
I'm sure they want a woman to win this season, so most of the guys are tactless or incompetent.

My intial thoughts:
Is Mark Burnett trying to make this The Apprentice: Survivor Edition? What in the world does sleeping in tents have to do with operating a large company? I think he really went for gimmicks over content here - which is a shame to me, since the first Apprentice was really well done without the gimmicks.
Having the winning PM sit in the boardroom, while interesting, only adds to the 'strategy' to win the job, when I think performance and leadership should be the reason a person gets it. Do not like this twist.
Now for the cast. We have our usual couple of members cast for pure entertainmant, i.e, FRANK, but the problem is Frank is so ridiculous it's really just not entertaining. He's a trainwreck that I am not wanting to see, just annoyingly annoying.
In the end, Martin/Frank should have both gone - I think neither of them have the attributes necessary to lead a multi-millionaire dollar operation. Martin was a bit too intellectual and negative about the whole thing and Frank, well he is just a buffoon.
Let's hope we get to see more of the smart people really shine and see this 'tent city' nonsense be done with.

I enjoyed the first episode, I just do not like Frank. I thought you were going to say you were the only one who liked Frank. :eek
I guess Mr. Burnett's drama intentions worked on me. I do feel the tent thing is sort of cheesy, but it was all typical Apprentice to me. With a few twists added.

I just watched the whole episode on the nbc site.. I am excited for this season.. New apprentice seasons always start slow for me, because these type A leader personalities typically are actually quite non-revealing, that and there are 16+ of them, so it's not always easy to get a grasp of hte people.. I'm excited nonetheless, The Appretince has always been one of my favorites.. I'm just disappointed I have to catch my Desperate Housewives later.... are they determined to have my show cancelled???

I also just got done watching the episode. I thought it was hilarious when Trump fired Martin and Frank smiled and looked at him and said, "He just said, 'Martin, you're fired!'" His relief was way too obvious.
I don't hate Frank, but I do think he was the most at fault on this task. Overall, I think Martin was the weakest link on the team though. I feel like Frank will give a maximum effort next week.

Ruben, if you have highspeed connection and you were really dying to see the show, I could transfer the file to you through MSN or something.
I don't know if that would interest you, but I'm just throwing it out there.
