Marc Ecko lets America decide on Bonds #756

Marc Ecko bought the #756 ball at auction Saturday. For those who are not familiar with Marc Ecko, he is a bit of a radical artist, who grew up on graffitti. He has a line of hip hoppish clothing also. I'm sure he's done a lot of other things, but my favorite is the you tube of him tagging Air Force One. :lol

Since there is such controversy shrouding the ball, he bought it so America could decide it's fate.

The choices:

A) Bestow it - Give the ball to Cooperstown.

B) Brand it - Burn a permanent asterik in it, making a permanent footnote, then send it to Cooperstown.

C) Banish it - Put it on a rocket ship and launch it into orbit.

Could someone fill me in on why "branding" the ball would be a good choice? I am a little confused on what the asterks means or signifies. (Well actually I have general speculation, but does someone know exactly why?)

Many fans (myself included) believe that Barry Bonds is a sham and has used performance enhancing drugs.

So therefore, as a sign that we don't recognize him as the "real" home run king, we would like to have the ball branded with an asterisk. It just would signify that sure, he has the most home runs in history, but there's a footnote. A big stinking ugly footnote! He's a cheater!

I was not calling anyone a cheater. Altho, I personally feel that Mr. Belichick and Mr. Bonds situations are lateral in that their elite successes are highly debatable leaving their victories tarnished. Thus the asterik. :crazy

I think branding it is a cool idea, it gives people a way of expressing their feelings on the whole issue and it diffuses the anger people might have about the monetary worth of the ball in question.

The Patriots have been cheating for years. They most likely cheated during their SuperBowl win against the Eagles too.

As for beating the Chargers fair and square, how can we be sure? It was in their home stadium. I'm certain there are plenty of locations to film from on their home turf without fear of being caught.

As for the ball, I agree with KF. I would love to go to the hall of fame years from now and see that branded ball on display.

My brother voted to send it into space. He's the biggest baseball fan I know and he just wants that thing gone!
