Is this one of your favourites, Davis?

I personally really love this movie. It's a great, emotional watch, with such a satisfying ending. :)

And, I LOVE Tim Robbins. :D

It's one of my favorites!! It is by far the best movie ever made from a Stephen King story. I loved Stephen's short story. But the re-writing for the movie was awesome!!

Actually I just watched it last night. But it is definitely an AMAZING movie.

I loved the beginning, middle, and end. It was so appealing even when "nothing" was technically happening; the prison life on its own was facinating. And the character that is Andy is so curious that you want to learn more.

When the movie does kick up the action (ie. the suicides, the horrible beatings, the library, and of course the END) the movie is just spectacular.

I would definitely advise the Shawshank Redemption to anyone who has not seen it. What is funniest though is I have never heard about the movie before and really only watched it because of a few of you FunSpotters raving about it. This captured my interest, and I had to see the film: I am glad I did.

It's my favorite movie of all-time. Anytime it comes on I watch it - it's still just as good. I cry, I smile, I feel the triumphs and the heartaches and the ending is just the best :) For me it's all about the story and I know some critics think it was such a contreived story, but I don't care - it was all about the friendship between Andy and Red. I absolutely LOVE Morgan Freeman for this role and Tim Robbins is awesome - the casting of the movie was spot-on. The cinematography is brilliant too - it's all about the extraordinary spirit of man and the unbelieveable coming true.

One of my favorite quotes of all time comes from this movie:

'Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.' --- Andy to Red in the letter (King penned it)

I was watching the movie knowing full well that I'd come back to the FunSpot to discuss "The Shawshank Redemption", so I wrote down a few of my favorite quotes:

1 - Red: "I must admit I didn't think much of Andy first time I laid eyes on him; looked like a stiff breeze would blow him over. That was my first impression of the man."

2 - Warden: "I believe in two things: discipline and the Bible. Here you'll receive both. Put your trust in the Lord; your ass belongs to me. Welcome to Shawshank."

3 - Red: "These walls are funny. First you hate 'em, then you get used to 'em. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them. That's institutionalized."

4 - Red: "Andy Dufrene - who crawled through a river of sh*t and came out clean on the other side."

5 - Red: "I'd like to think that the last thing that went through his head, other than that bullet, was to wonder how the hell Andy Dufrene ever got the best of him."

I really love Quote #3, as it rings so true, and I can totally comprehend it. Whether prisons, or other types of institutions / systems (even school for example), you hate them at first, but once you get used to them, you depend them. I think it eloquently explains Brook's fate.

Also like to point out that picture #2 on the movie banner is from the movie :) It's Andy and Red in the prison yard - Maxx must love the movie!
