Dancing with the Stars to Tango with Gay Twist?

The celeb-and-pro lineup for Dancing with the Stars' Season 7 won't be officially revealed until mid-August, but already rumors are surfacing about who might prance across the parquet.

The latest buzz has Lance Bass signed on to samba — but here's the possible wrinkle: Sources tell the New York Daily News that producers might pair the openly gay 'N SYNC alum with a male pro. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

An ABC rep has no comment for TVGuide.com on the rumor. — Matt Mitovich

I would LMAO if he was paired w/Maks, if indeed Maks comes back to the show next season. That would be hilarious. :lol

Wow. Just because he's gay? That's pretty ignorant.

That would be hilarious! I can't believe they would do that though, it would be just too ridiculous.

Report: Former VP Dan Quayle on 'Dancing with the Stars' "short list"

By Christopher Rocchio, 07/30/2008

Dancing with the Stars reportedly might have a presidential feel when its seventh season airs this fall in the midst of America's search for a new Commander in Chief.

Former U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle is on "the short list" of celebrity participants currently being courted by ABC for Dancing with the Stars seventh season, gossipsauce.com reported Monday.

The 61-year-old Quayle is a former Indiana senator and also served as vice president under George H. W. Bush from 1989 to 1993.

Should he actually be cast for Dancing with the Stars, Quayle would actually be the second politician to appear on the show -- following in the footsteps of third-season participant Jerry Springer, who had previously served as the mayor of Cincinnati.

Dancing with the Stars seventh season will premiere with a special two-hour performance episode on Monday, September 22 at 8PM ET/PT.

ABC will formally reveal the show's seventh-season cast during Good Morning America's August 25 broadcast.

Dancing With The Stars Cast Rumors

Paula Abdul
Since she approached 'DWTS' host Tom Bergeron about doing the show, the 'American Idol' judge has been rumored as a potential contestant. Though Fox execs weren't thrilled about her interest, they haven't stopped fellow judges Simon Cowell or Randy Jackson from popping up on other shows. Now her schedule seems to be the biggest stumbling block; no word if MC Skat Cat is available to partner.

Lance Bass
The former NSYNCer may participate, but the bigger news is that if he does join the cast, he may dance with a man. Neither the openly gay boy bander nor the network would comment on the reports, but one thing's for sure: a male partnership would shake things up more than a rumba during an earthquake.

Word on the street is that the already over-exposed E! reality vixen is set to shake her bodacious booty on the ABC competition. Even if those stories aren't true, another family member may find herself 'Dancing' next season: Kim's mom, 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' co-star Kris Jenner.

Although bloggers went ballistic when the former Vice President of the United States was mentioned as a possible participant, the politico turned down the show's offer. Dick Cheney'll be out of a job soon .... Oh, but he's got those pesky health issues.

In truth, it sounds like the 'American Idol' season 5 finalist hasn't actually been approached by producers, but she certainly is interested in being on the show. She also has an in: her BFF happens to be former 'Dancing' champion and fellow country crooner Julianne Hough.

The retired NFL player's been very open about the fact that he was offered a spot on 'Dancing' and that he plans to take it. Traditionally, footballers have done extremely well on the show -- ex-pro gridiron great Emmitt Smith was crowned season 3 champ. Could Sapp's appearance result in another touchdown?

Kathy Griffin
The irreverent redhead was invited to do the show but she said no, which is really disappointing considering she's done almost every reality show on the planet, including 'Celebrity Mole.' Perhaps 'Dancing' was just too A-list for her.

The aurally challenged bodybuilder has made his interest known for a while now, and he was even rumored to be part of the show last year before the real cast was revealed. Will the original TV Hulk finally make the cut, or will he have to go in there and smash heads?

I'm really sad that Kathy said no. I think she would be a riot on the show! I don't get it. She would have weekly exposure for 3 months AND on a Top 10 TV show AND she'd lose weight :lol ? Hmmm... maybe she's going to be too busy with a comedy tour? Or maybe Bravo said no?

I'm just as upset Manny. I worship Kathy like the golden Buddha statue that she is, and it would be amazing to watch her two more days a week (in addition to Thursday night D-List episodes) being hardly famous and awkward on her feet. I'm hoping that the reported "no" is just DWTS covering up their news, but I doubt we'll see the holy and all-powerful Kathy Griffin gracing the stage next season :(.

Please don't let Lance dance with another man. In dance there are male and female roles - it's just the way it is, and the judges have said to so many guys to act like a man. So pairing him with another guy would force one of them to play the "female" role and then it would just get too complicated and the whole thing would turn into a big joke. Just pair him up with a lesbian and call it even. As long as the lesbian leads, that is.

Manny

Yeah, that would be weird seeing him dance with a man. I mean, we kind of got a whiff of that when Steve and Jonathan danced the MANgo last season. It was just too awkward. It would never work with two buff guys. I think if they are going to use a man with a man, at least make it someone like Benny Ninja or someone who is very feminine.

Well if you want to dance with someone who is feminine, wouldn't it be much simpler to dance with a female?

Please don't let Lance dance with another man.

What is bothersome to me is that it's just playing up the whole fact that he's gay. When I think of Lance, I think N'SYNC, not that he's a gay guy, per se. And to me at least, him being gay is just another quality of him and shouldn't be masqueraded as the one thing that makes him different. It's almost like telling one of the dancers that because they have green eyes that they have to wear green for every dance because that's who they are - a green-eyed person. Does anyone else see where I'm coming from?

I mean, look at half of the guys on So You Think You Can Dance. While they may not be out to the public, clearly many are gay and I don't see the need to pair them up with other men. It's stupid, IMO.

Just to update your list Krazi. Here is the complete list of stars with their partners:

- Lance Bass with professional Lacey Schwimmer
(YES AS IN THE ONE FROM SYTYCD :omg !!!)

- Toni Braxton with professional Alec Mazo
(He may have a real chance at NOT getting eliminated first :lol )

- Brooke Burke with professional Derek Hough
(Hot pairing!)

- Rocco DiSpirito with professional Karina Smirnoff
(Another hot pairing!)

- Maurice Greene with professional Cheryl Burke
(She may reach the finals yet again)

- Kim Kardashian with professional Mark Ballas
(I NEVER thought I'd see her on a show like this. But Mark might have to work hard to do back-to-back winnings)

- Cloris Leachman with professional Corky Ballas
(Yes! Mark's father!!!)

- Cody Linley with professional Julianne Hough
(I'm glad to see she's back, and I really like Jake Ryan of the Hannah Montana series. I hope he does well!)

- Susan Lucci with professional Tony Dovolani
(Will she have time?)

- Misty May-Treanor with professional Maksim Chmerkovskiy
(Just fresh from the Olympics, she may be the one to beat)

- Ted McGinley with professional Inna Brayer

- Jeffrey Ross with professional Edyta Śliwińska
(And they give her another dud... At least she's back)

- Warren Sapp with professional Kym Johnson
(I'm also glad to see her back. Hopefully she will last longer this season)

My impressions of the season: With some big names (Braxton, Lucci) and some big athletes (Treanor, Sapp, Greene) and popular personalities (Bass, Kardashian, Burke), this is looking like it could be the most unpredictable season ever! There are no real obvious duds, except for a couple, which leads me to believe that everyone may come out with awesome dancing. I'm really excited to see Lacey on board as a new professional, although I wish Ashly DelGrosso was back. I can't WAIT for this season!!!

I really like the looks of this season.

And I don't think that the fans will be able to carry Lucci THAT far. Since Kelly won in season one against only 5 others and this season has 13 pairs. So around the middle of the season when the big fan base/no talent people start to drop out is when Kelly was able to win. Besides, there was a re-match in that season so obviously the majority of viewers agree with you and didn't like that she won.

Kardashian to keep ‘Dancing’ despite injury
>>> Reality star cut her foot on mirrored table Sunday night
by Access Hollywood, updated 3:15PM, Monday, August 25 2008

LOS ANGELES - Kim Kardashian didn’t “break a leg,” but she did hurt her foot.

The reality star, who was announced Monday morning to be a competitor on the seventh season of the hit ABC show “Dancing With The Stars,” told “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” that she cut her foot on Sunday night.

“We were in the hotel and I cut my foot on a glass mirrored table that was broken and jagged and I didn’t see the edge. It was, like, blood everywhere,” she said.

Following the injury, Kardashian was rushed to the emergency room.

“I had to call my ("Dancing With The Stars") partner Mark. I feel so bad, I woke him up,” Kardashian told Seacrest. “I was like, ‘You’re going to wake up and you’re going to hear all these things, but we’re going to get through this.’”

Kardashian said she “was crying all night,” but that will not jeopardize her participation on “Dancing.”

“This is a challenge, and we’ll get through this,” she said.

Dancing' star Lance Bass: I'm glad Julianne Hough was eliminated

By John Bracchitta, 11/20/2008

At least one of the show's remaining contestants isn't upset about the fact that Julianne Hough and her celebrity partner Hannah Montana actor Cody Linley were eliminated from Dancing with the Stars' seventh-season competition on Tuesday night.

"She was the one I was scared of the most," singer Lance Bass told People magazine about Hough on Wednesday. "She's the queen of Dancing with the Stars and I know that she knows how to win this thing. I love her so much, but I'm glad she's gone and I don't have to face her."

Bass -- who has spent the season dancing with first-time Dancing with the Stars professional Lacey Schwimmer -- had good reason to be worried about Hough as the 20-year-old dancer is a two-time recipient of Dancing with the Stars' mirror ball trophy.
Hough won the competition in back-to-back seasons, claiming Dancing with the Stars' Spring 2007 fourth-season title with speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno and then defending her title with IndyCar racer Helio Castroneves during last fall's fifth edition of the show.

However, Bass also acknowledged that he's still facing some strong competition despite Hough's elimination -- particularly from former Rock Star host Brooke Burke, who has been dancing with Hough's older brother Derek Hough.

"She's definitely the one I'm looking at," Bass told People of Burke. "She's been in first place every week and the judges seem to absolutely love her. She could pee on the floor and they would give her 10's for it."

Bass and Schwimmer received three 10's of their own -- their first perfect scores of the season -- from the judges for one of their two dances during Monday night's Dancing with the Stars' semifinal performance show, but he doesn't plan to rest on his laurels during next week's finale.

"Really in the finals it comes down to who dances the best," Bass told People. "It doesn't have to do with personality or anything, it's just really who dances the best that night. It's been a rough ride but I can't believe I made it."

I don't know. Personally, even if he's not trying to sound mean, I don't like what he said. Reading this makes me want to vote for Brooke. I read somewhere that last week he reported on his blog that he wished Maurice stay instead of Cody, so that he has a chance at getting to finals. I think him AND Lacey are too much on this they've-never-liked-us horse, and I'm sick of it.

I think I'm convinved. Voting for Brooke next week!

Julianne Hough: Not Returning to DWTS in the Spring

From Fancast Blog
By Julianne Hough, Posted 11/19/2008

I won’t be on Dancing this spring season. I don’t know about the fall. Maybe, maybe not. We’ll see. I’m definitely going to focus on the music. My first album was a learning experience, and I can’t wait for the next one. I feel like the writing and producing will be even better, really awesome.

http://thebiz.fancast.com/2008/11/julianne_hough_vote_for_my_bro.html#more

I'm really sad she's not going to be on next season. Does this mean we're going to keep Lacey and add Benji for sibling rivalry?!

Bambi
11-21-2008, 05:02 PM
I don't know Manny, I really didn't read Lance being that mean in that interview. The part about Brooke peeing was not good, but I think he was just trying to be funny and it really didn't come off as being funny.

And the judges do love her. Personally, I think they got to the point where they "had" to find something wrong with Brooke's dancing to show they are really "impartial" and don't have a so-called "favorite. Hence the bad scores this past episode, which I felt those scores were way too low.

I'm thinking those who have been voting for Cody will now vote for Lance or not vote at all. I think Brooke will have a lot of voters also. But, then, you've got the sports fans, who probably could care less about "dancing", but hey, it's a sports hero so let's vote. :rolleyes

Lacey and Benji...NO!!! I would accept Benji, but I really hope Lacey does not return next season.
