![]() Episode 6: The Question of the Millennium I’ve been trying to write the article for 10/27 for a week now, but I just can’t get what I want out. I’ve written about 7 or 8 different drafts and none of them feel right. My trepidation comes from the moment in the show where they spend 20 minutes on 1 contestant – typically the contestant about to go home. In this case, it’s Abby. She tells her story all over again about her son, daughter and husband. During Abby’s workout, Jillian asked the most audacious question that has ever been asked on any reality show ever. She stops Abby from using the rowing machine and asks, “What’s it like to lose everything you’ve ever loved?” Let me repeat that question again in case you missed it. “What’s it like to lose EVERYTHING you’ve EVER loved?” My first reaction was laughter. I couldn’t deal with the melodramatics of the moment. After I composed myself, I could barely watch the rest of the episode. I started to think about how I would feel if I lost everything I’ve ever loved. I wondered if it is fair to say that Abby lost everything she ever loved. I pondered how Biggest Loser had the chutzpah to assume that they could solve that question in one episode. Jillian, I love you, but that question just isn’t fit for a prime time reality show. Leave it on Oprah where it belongs. ---- The rest of the episode was okay, but paled in comparison to that moment. The blue team won the right to match up the contestants. They competed in the weigh-in one-on-one. Blue team won and black team, as you know, kicked off Abby. She is doing well for herself and like 85% of every BL contestant is now a motivational speaker. You will be missed. God I hope Shay or Daniel is going next! GLAGH Haven’t watched this week of BL yet, so no spoilers please!!! That Article up in the next few days. I think they fed Jillian that line... hoping for some great big sobbing melodramtic response from Abby. But Abby acted like, well, a person who has actually lost everything. What it gives is perspective.
No huge fits over little tiny crap, but class and grace with even a question as audacious as that one. I hope Abby's new love of life again is for real, and not a whiplash effect of coming out of the horrid depression she must have faced. Quote:
