The Amazing Race 15 – Finale – Vegas Baby! Vegas!!!

Vegas Baby! Vegas!!!

Greetings my loyal minions, Maxx Fisher here,

This is going to come as a shock to all of you, but I’m not the smartest man in the world. I know, it’s hard to believe. I get things wrong all the time and I have the benefit of not being on TV when I do it. But you know what? I am the smartest man in the world compared to this crop of racers on The Amazing Race. Wow. They managed to out stupid one another time after time. I can only imagine what would have happened if there had been a memory challenge.

The teams started this last leg of the race in Prague with the players finding out that they were headed to Las Vegas. Sam & Dan decided that to win they were going to make this operation “Don’t Yell At Each Other”. This was the first sign that they were going to lose. The Brothers & Meghan & Cheyne were waiting at the airport for the third team to arrive. They had no idea who went home. Both teams were ecstatic that it was Brian & Ericka, I would assume that it was because both teams knew they could beat these two, but could they? The teams were naturally on the same flight so it was a scramble at the airport for taxis to the Graceland Wedding Chapel to get a clue from Elvis.

It was a slight bit of Karma that the Brothers were the last team to get a cab but it didn’t last long because all the teams got to the chapel at the same time. What was ridicules was that the teams were kind of fighting over the clues that Elvis was passing out. Idiots. They would get their clues seconds apart. Although with the time it takes these teams to just read, I can see why they’d want theirs as soon as possible. The clue directed them to the Mandalay Bay hotel & casino for a terrifying Road Block.

Brian & Ericka had a great driver because he had a shortcut to get to the hotel first and they got quite a head start on the task. What the teams had to do was repel down the side of the building…600 feet…face first. That’s it, I would hand the million dollars off to someone else. Brian, who shares my fears was not the one to do the task. Ok, they lost. But wait, Ericka was actually good at this task. She made her way down the side of the building and really seemed to enjoy it. Plus she was all strapped in and over the side of the building before the next team, Meghan & Cheyne even showed up.

Cheyne decided to do the challenge but he was scared and did it with his eyes closed. Not smart. In fact, at some point he sort of crashed into the side of the building and with his eyes closed it looked like he had passed out. Sam basically ran down the side of the building. It was like a radioactive spider bit him.

After that torturous ordeal the teams had to make their way to the Mirage and join the cast of Love, the Beatles Cirque Du Soleil show. Since they had quite a lead, Brian & Ericka were the first to do the Detour. One member of each team had to strap into a bungee cord harness and the other would basically have to sling shot them up to a bouquet of flowers hanging from the ceiling. Let me just say now that Ericka is a mess. She cannot handle pressure of any kind at all. How long does she cry when a light bulb burns out? Does she need valium when the “Change Oil” light comes on in her car? I say this because as soon as Meghan & Cheyne showed up she started losing it. After a few passes with her missing the flowers she was screaming & crying. When Sam & Dan showed up I thought she was going to have a stroke.

When Meghan manages to get her flowers Ericka completely flips out and demands that she & Brian switch places. This is just idiotic. There is no way she has the strength to pull him down enough for him to bounce up and get the flowers. Brain might actually be the most patient human being on the planet and after one horrible attempt, they switch back.

The clue that Meghan & Cheyne got told them to go to the most famous casino in Monaco. This is where things got stupid. Their cab driver told them to go to the Venetian, an Italian inspired casino. While they are roaming around the parking trying to figure out where to go the Brothers grabbed their flowers and raced outside. Meghan & Cheyne saw them and jumped in their cab figuring they would find their answer through prayer. The Brothers told their driver to follow Meghan & Cheyne, surprising move since they hated it whenever someone followed them.

On the drive the Brothers borrowed a cell phone and found out they should go to the Monte Carlo. Cheyne suddenly realizes that Monaco is in Spain so he decides to go to the Bellagio, another Italian hotel casino. Ericka finally grabs the flowers and he knows immediately that it is the Monte Carlo, he’s a little unsure but Ericka puts her foot down and that’s where they head off to for the final task. Even though Cheyne knew that the Bellagio was their next destination, they went to the Venetian where the doorman told them that the Monte Carlo was where they needed to go. So they went into the Venetian to ask someone else who told them the same thing. A few days later they realized that their true destination was the Monte Carlo.

At the Monte Carlo each team would need to count out exactly $1,000,000 of casino chips, in various denominations. The Brothers were the first to arrive and they were an annoying, dumb mess. But what did anyone really expect. They needed the Poker Princesses’ help on the gold measuring challenge, even though they had a calculator. And just as predicted they count like they get along, not at all so when Brian & Ericka show up they take it out on each other.

After getting stuck in traffic, Meghan & Cheyne finally show up and it is a race to get those chips counted. Meghan & Cheyne and Brain & Ericka are all calm and cool. Sam & Dan are a bickering mess that I wanted to smack. I don’t know if it was editing or if it actually happened, but all the teams finished counting at almost the same time. But Meghan & Cheyne were the only ones who got the correct amount. I assumed that would be the case with the Brothers, but I was hoping that Brian & Ericka would have gotten this right. Meghan & Cheyne are told to go to the MGM Grand, suite 88 and see Mr. Las Vegas for their next clue. Cheyne thinks it’s Frank Sinatra. That’s right Cheyne, you’ll be getting your next clue from a dead man. Moron. The Brothers finally get the correct amount of chips and this is the last we see Brian & Ericka until the finish like.

In suite 88 Meghan & Cheyne meet Wayne Newton, whether he’s alive or dead is debatable. He tells them that the finish line is at his house. When the Brothers show up at the suite, they have no idea who he is. He tells them who he is and tells them where the finish line is. I do not agree with what he did. If they don’t know who he is, he shouldn’t tell them. So it all comes down to a heavily edited race to see who is going to come in first. Since Meghan & Cheyne went to the wrong entrance, twice and the Brothers had nothing but smooth sailing you knew that Meghan & Cheyne were the winners.

They have go to be the winningest team that TAR has ever had. The Brothers came in second & said something about getting along. I think it might have been that they realize they never will. When Brian & Ericka showed up third, Ericka said she hoped this would show her family how special Brian is and that you can’t judge someone by the color of their skin. This had quite a few of the earlier boots crying.

I leave you with this my facelifts for Wayne Newton, how happy are you that the Brothers didn’t win? I would say very. After the 17th time in first place wasn’t it obvious they were going to win. And after watching this season, maybe Ericka family will feel Brian is too good for her. Until 16 stay Gucci (hint, hint).
