I think we could all use this thread every once in awhile to just unload all of our stresses and maybe even get some advice from fellow TV FunSpotters.
I know I could definitely use this thread right now, and I apologize in advance for unloading it all. Maybe it's just easier to let it all out. Well, I'm having crazy computer issues right now. My laptop for the past two months or so, will stop recognizing my AC adapter every once in awhile. It will stop recognizing it, and then rely upon the battery for energy. I ignored it, and came up with a simple solution. Well this morning, I load up my computer... and it won't turn on! My battery was dead and it wouldn't recognize my AC adapter again. I got so incredibly pissed off! I called Dell, and they told me since my warranty JUST expired two weeks ago that I would be out of warranty and it would cost me $589 to get it fixed! I said screw that, called my sister up who is head Systems Analyst for Marriott in Houston, and told her to find me a good laptop to buy. So... she did and I had to buy a new laptop. I'm excited at the fact I'm getting a new laptop, but not happy at my unexpected expense that I've now come across. Also, my car insurance company is screwing me over. They're no longer recognizing my good driving record, and they're going off of my credit reports! I can't complain because they're giving me the same rate I was at last term, but I have no more tickets on my license... I should be getting cheaper! Also... I have great credit! But in their letter they write: We look at credit history information that helps us to measure your insurance risk; this information does not necessarily reflect your credit worthiness. We evaluate your credit history information differently than a lender would. Therefore, it is possible to have a very good credit score, yet still not be eligible for our absolute lowest premiums. What the crap is that?! My mortgage company had no problem with giving me money for my house, but apparently my insurance company wants my first born child and my left ovary. |

Aww Callie.
![]() @ Computer Problems - I know EXACTLY what you're going through. It's too bad about that warranty, but getting a new laptop is usually fun. See, you're lucky that you have someone knowledgable to help you purchase a computer though (I will get to more of this at my problem. )@ Insurance Problems - Wow, you sure didn't come out of that situation on top. I mean, I might not know what I am talking about, but maybe you should contact your auto insurance provider and discuss the issue of equal rates and how you have a good driving record and credit report. Hope you can get out of this bind! Anyways, onto my computer related problem. In the past 3-4 years I have went through 2 computers. Now this may sound like a 'good thing', two computers in such a short time, but trust me, it was NOT! My first computer we bought because of its price and deal, wrong move. It's not a very known brand of a laptop which may have been a mistake, but it was a piece of junk. The sound quit, the screen had bars down the front, and it just stopped functioning quickly / if at all. We moved on into a Toshiba laptop. It looked nice, good spec's, 17" screen and it seemed like we got it for a steal. But when they offered us all those perks, and told us it was the last product of this kind they were going to get, we should have wondered 'hmm, why are they discontinuing'. The battery stopped working after 6 months. It won't even turn on now, and if it does the battery goes after 15 minutes of overheating. Literally, worst computer I have EVER had. So now I am in the search for another computer, which again, may sound fun. But it isn't because I am FREAKED out from my past experiences. Every laptop seems to have problems and I am so confused with what to get. Why can't they just make a decent computer for a decent price that WORKS?! |

![]() I'd like to get a notebook computer and am afraid of plunking down good money and have the machine die in a few weeks/months. Insurance?! Ack, isn't that industry a scam? Callie, I guess it's time to shop for another insurer since the current one obviously doesn't value you as a customer. ![]() |

I have never made a claim against my home insurance. One year the insurer increased the premium by $50. I called to complain and they made it sound like they were doing me a favor by only increasing the premium by $50. I reluctantly decided to stay and ever since my complaint the premium has never gone up.

Insurance companies are almost as bad as the big banks. Almost, but not quite. They're evil.
My back is killing me as per usual, my stomach hurts, I have a headache. ![]() I'm feeling blah, I think I'm perimenopausing, and my dad died a year ago. I feel, basically, like a pile of ****. I'd have a drink or two, but I'm allergic. ![]() Sorry, I'm depressing as heck, really. |

Awww toque.
I'm sorry you are feeling so down. For what it is worth, I'm always happy to see your screen name on TVFS and look forward to reading your always witty and funny posts. You are such a wonderful contributor to our community. (I know that is not why you are feeling down, but just wanted you to know how valuable I think you are!)Callie - that stinks so much about the computer and the insurance. When it rains, it pours, eh? I hope things work out for you. Davis - you have had such bad luck with laptops! Crazy! Have you ever considered buying a Mac Powerbook? Everyone I know that has one loves them and they are super reliable (my sister in law bought a cheapie three years ago and it is still going strong for her). Good luck in your search. The things that are bugging me are all about work. 1. Yesterday was secretary's day and, for the 11 jilliinth time in a row, I got absolutely nothing - not even a "Happy Secretary's Day." My boss is really great and shows me appreciation all year long in a myriad of little ways, but it's hard when all my co-workers are showered with flowers and nice lunches and I sit her like a lump on a log. 2. My firm is having a 70th Anniversary Party one week from today and we are expecting 500+ people. It's a big deal. Somehow, though, one of our two female partners and I got stuck with 99.9% of all the work planning the party. I've done tons of graphic design, vendor decisions, organization and maintianing the mailing list and RSVP lists (we invited over 1,500 people). I think it is going to be a great event but I'm no party planner and I just know that if something goes wrong I'm also going to get 99.9% of the blame and, not matter how it turns out, I'm sure I won't get thanked. 3. Also with the party, we have to staff the registration table with employees. Do you think anyone has volunteered? No. I feel like I've done enough for this party and I'd like to just hang out and enjoy it and not be handing out name tags while Drew wallows alone in a corner. I just wish people would step up! OK, think I'm done. ![]() |

500-- 1500 people
![]() That's like, a friggin wedding... a BIG one. Good luck, Omlb, I'm sure it will be a great affair with you on the job, but I don't envy your work planning it... I hope one of your co-workers takes up the registration desk job, soon. And I'm sending you belated a "Happy Secretary's Day" ![]() (I'd like to send your boss one of these... ) |

What's Bothering Me:
MY MOTHER She calls and leaves me a message today to inform me of the following: I need to watch Oprah. Why? Because she says that according to Oprah the highest numbers of single men over 35 live in Raleigh, NC.... This is the sort of thing I get from her a lot, perhaps one reason I haven't gotten married yet too. |

Erika, no, do not move! If you are happy with where you are, then just stay. When people "look" for love, the love they find will not be a good love. Love just happens, most of the time when you least expect it. It took me 32 years to find my love, and most of you are still so young...don't push it, just let it happen.
Don't go "looking" for the love of your life, he/she will find you when the time is right. Don't push it, just let fate do it's thing, if something good is to happen, it will, even though you might have to go through some tough times first, love always wins out, so just be patience. |
