Description:

In "The Mole: Fun Edition”, participants will play an individual game where their goal is to make it to the end of the competition, and raise the cash pot. To do so, one must be able to figure out the identity of the Mole, while trying to complete as many challenges, as a team, as possible to raise the pot amount. In the game, everyone is under suspicion because the mole’s goal is to sabotage the group challenges while remaining covert and unidentified; anyone could be guilty.

Here are the major components of a typical round of the Mole:

1. Challenge

Each round will have some sort of challenge, or challenges. These will be either to raise the pot, or to earn some other benefit. The contestants want to raise the pot, while the mole wants to try to keep the pot low, by sabotaging some challenges, while still attempting to stay unnoticed.

2. The Mole Quiz

Regardless of how the group performed on the challenge or challenges, each round there will be a Mole Quiz. This will be a test, normally multiple choice questions, asking questions about the identity of the Mole. Each week, the player who scored the lowest on the quiz will be executed and eliminated from the game. One last note, if there is a tie on the quiz, it will be up to the Mole as to who will be executed.

This is where finding clues and identifying the Mole becomes crucial, as if you are furthest away from his or her identity, you will be executed.

Note: After each Mole Quiz, the results will NOT be revealed, the rankings of who scored best to worst will NOT be stated, and there is to be ABSOLUTELY NO communication with the recently executed player about whom he or she thought was the Mole.

3. Twists

Of course “The Mole: Fun Edition” will have its share of twists and turns in the game. To expand on a few possible twists, advantages, penalties, and such that may be found throughout the game, I have listed and explained a few for you:

Exemption – Every so often there will be an opportunity to earn an exemption in various rounds. If you do so, you will still receive a copy of the Mole Quiz, but you do not need to write it if you wish not to, being as you are safe (or exempt) from execution!!
Bonus/Penalty Points – Routinely throughout the rounds, you will encounter the opportunity to earn Bonus or Penalty points. These refer to your scores on the Mole Quiz; obviously bonus points are beneficial, where as you would like to stay away from the Penalty Points.
The Trial – You may find yourself facing a trial of your peers periodically throughout the game. Voting in the game is not a common occurrence, but at the Trial you may have a chance to publicly state who you suspect to be the Mole. Once your suspects have been narrowed down, the Mole will have the ultimate decision of which player they feel is the biggest threat to them; that person will be innocent.

Motivations & Goals:

The trouble with most Mole games is, what’s the motivation for players to win a challenge? Where’s the incentive for the Mole to sabotage a challenge and risk being identified? “The Mole: Fun Edition” has dealt with this issue, because I can promise a reward for the mole or the player(s).

Here are the motivations and goals for the Mole participants:

1. Regular Players

Motivations:
To win the challenges – so that you receive the reward or avoid the penalty for yourself and your team, thus giving you an advantage to remain in the game. You also want to win these challenges so that you can earn more towards the pot.

Goals:
–Win Challenges (gain bonuses, increase odds of remaining in the game, raise the amount in the pot)
–Identify the Mole (score better on the Mole Quiz, remain in the game)
–Keep your Mole suspicions secret (so that less people score well on the Mole Quiz, better rankings, remain in the game)
–Draw the other’s suspicions of the Mole’s identity to oneself (by sabotaging challenges at the ideal time, acting dubiously, making them think that you are the mole)
–Find the many clues and secrets hidden in the forum, and in all aspects of the game

2. The Mole

Motivations:
To sabotage challenges – so that the Mole ends up receiving the pot, recognition, and congratulations for winning their own personal game. In order for the Mole to “win”, they must keep the pot under a specified amount (that only the mole, and I, will know) and if they sabotage up to the requirement, they succeed, and get to keep the pot. If they don’t, they fail. The mole also wants to keep his identity a secret, and try to seem as much as a regular player as possible. Because, if in any one round at least 70% of the players name him as the mole in their mole quiz, then he will be eliminated and will not win the game. However, I will not announce if 70% of the players name him as the mole until the finales, where the winner(s) are announced.

Goals:
–Sabotage Challenges (each challenge that is lost in which the Mole was participating raises the chance that the mole has kept the pot under the certain amount needed for the Mole to “win”)
–Avoid suspicion and identification (by choosing the ideal time to sabotage, and the beneficial time to act inconspicuously)
–Subtly, add the suspicions to other players (by cunningly indicating who could be the Mole)

3. Everyone

Goals:
To make it to the end of the game – and try to win some money and recognition for being a Finalist
To succeed in accomplishing one’s mission in which they set out to accomplish – either by identifying the mole and winning the game, or sabotaging the required amount of tasks, winning one’s personal game

Choosing the Players

Now here is the tough part of the game, I can’t make any real statements until after I see how many people have signed up to play in “The Mole: Fun Edition” but obviously there will only be 15 players allowed in this game.

Please note, signing up for the game does not ensure that you will end up playing. If the sign ups are above or below the required amount of players, we will deal with that when it comes. Until then, if you are interested in playing the game, do sign up.

On a different note, I do know that in every type of game where there is a Mole or some sort of secret player, there are players who would like to BE and would like NOT to be the particular position. If you sign up for the Mole, you must be prepared to play the Mole. I have a semi-random selection method for choosing candidates for the Mole, at which point your pre-game surveys and quizzes will decide the rest.

You will be able to rank how much you desire being the Mole on a scale of one to ten, and give a reason. If you express interest for becoming the Mole, you very well may become it. The application and such will all be sent out about half way through Sign Ups, so until then, let’s get the show on the road.

4. One More Thing

Deadlines WILL be fair. Challenges and quizzes will always have a reasonable amount of time to be completed.

At the same time, I cannot guarantee that the Mole will be an easy game. In fact, I will say right now, it probably won’t be. With the type of game that the Mole is, the challenges are NOT supposed to be easy. They are supposed to be challenging. There is supposed to be a good chance that you will fail the challenge and won’t complete it. That’s part of the game.

While I will be fair with deadlines, of course there may be challenges in itself that push the limits, but that IS the Mole. I can’t promise that the game will be easy, but I can promise that it will be fun.

Sign Ups:

Are you ready for action, drama, mystery, suspicion, and a whole lot of fun? Do you want to partake in the adventure of figuring out who is the Mole? Can you survive to the end of the game, and become a finalist? Or ultimately, the winner? Are you the Mole?

If all of the above is true for you, then I suggest you sign up for “The Mole: Fun Edition”. So what are you waiting for? Let’s play the MOLE!

So after reading the "One More Thing" paragraph, I'm guessing this game would not be classified as "Bambi-friendly"?

Well, I am pretty new to the forum. I haven't really met Bambi, but I have seen the expression "Bambi-friendly". I am not 100% sure what that expression means. But, if it means that Bambi is, for some reason, is inactive a lot then I would say it is not Bambi-friendly. However, anyone is encouraged to play if they think they can at least meet 72 hour deadlines.

I see! Some challenges will be easy. While some may be difficult. It really just depends on what skills each player possesses. However, I will try to keep a good balance between easy and hard challenges.

I think Zits means to ask if computer skills such as screenshot, paint and stuff are required or not?

Only basic computer skills are required. It may help in some cases to be able to manipulate photos. However, it will never be required. Screenshots will be a requirement in some challenges. So, the only computer skill needed (other than typing and such, which I assume everyone on this forum knows how to do ) is being able to take a screenshot.

Sorry lukegrah - we use the Bambi friendly term around here so much I didn't realize not everyone understood what that meant. Thanks for the info - I love Mole games but I think I'll see how the signups go for a day or two.

5 spots down.. 10 more to go. I suppose I will let signups go for two days after the fifteenth person signs up. I encourage people past the 15 mark to sign up because I can always make room.
