I will be in this thread often. So I decided to give you all an introduction.

Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. The city where I live. Population just under a million. The city has been declared to have one of (if not THE) largest temperature change of any regular city.

In the summer our temperatures reach up and sometimes exceed 36 degrees celcius (100 degrees ferenheit), and in the summers we reach extreme lows like just recently.

Today the city reached -49 degrees celcius (-56 degrees ferenheit) which is for anyone who hasn't felt it, EXTREMELY cold. All buses were cancelled, school was still active (though many were absent) and it really made for a sunny, but freezing day. To put in perspective, I was outside for maybe 7 seconds and my nose froze up entirely.

Anyways, now feel free to complain about your weather problems which pales in comparison to my conflcts.

Yes, but was it a dry cold? The cold weather is headed this way but not to the same extreme as out west.

It was DRY and WINDY. The temperature was actually probably -38 degrees celcius, but the wind chill dropped it down -49 degrees celcius.

From experience, I have learnt that Wind Chill is worst than just plain cold. For example, -40 without windchill is cold, but -30 with a -40 windchill is freezing as it's the wind that hurts.

It's kind of scary here. The freezing rain has stopped but the trees are laden with it. Our neighbour had a huge branch fall across the fence and our big tree in the back is drooping down.

No thaw in the forecast
